B.Pharm

Overview

Since RRCOP inception in 2005 the institute has been at the forefront of B. Pharm program with 60 intake. Later intake has been extended to 100 in the year 2017. The four-year B Pharm course with Credit based Semester System (CBS) offered by RRCOP considering the needs of industry, which gives more impetus for skill development and to address all demands and challenges of the profession of pharmacy. Thus, B Pharm graduates can play vital roles like Industrial pharmacist (Manufacturing, Packaging, Quality Control and Quality Assurance), Hospital and Community Pharmacist (Dispensing of Medicines and Counseling of patients), Sales and Distribution executive (Detailing to doctors and bulk distribution of medicines), Academic Pharmacist (training diploma in pharmacy students). With experience, an aspirant can move up the ladder to occupy senior positions in pharmaceutical companies getting hefty pay and perks.


Eligibility:

Duration: 4 years

Citizenship: Indian nationals.

Qualification: Pass in 10+2 with minimum 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology.

  • Practical examination pattern: Synopsis, Major experiment, Minor Experiment and Viva-voce.
  • Attendance: 80% is the minimum attendance required to be eligible to appear for the university examinations.

B.Pharm (Lateral Entry)

Overview

In order to pursue profession of pharmacy, a short version of pharmacy program namely Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm for 2 years program) was introduced in 1990 with the minimum qualification PUC/Pre-degree/10+2 with science background in India. Thus a large number of students persuaded their interest in the profession of pharmacy through D Pharm and registered themselves are pharmacists. These registered pharmacists confined themselves either to community or hospital pharmacy stores. Bachelor of Pharmacy, a graduate degree packed with the courses and their contents relevant to the higher levels of profession of pharmacy in the field of industry, practice and research.


'Is there any shortcut for a Diploma in Pharmacy holder to aspire for higher learning in Pharmacy?'

  • Lateral admission to B Pharm (i.e., B Pharm Lateral entry with CBS) is offered to a candidate who would like to pursue for higher learning in pharmacy. Thus the lateral entry system allows the candidate to get admission into the second year B Pharm (5th Semester) directly. So, with three years of further studies, these candidates can become pharmacy graduates.
  • RRCOP has been offering this to the entire qualified diploma in Pharmacy holders ever since the Pharmacy Council of India commenced the lateral entry system for the benefit of D Pharm qualified people.

Eligibility

Duration: 3 years. Candidates are admitted directly to second year (5th Semester).

Citizenship: Indian nationals.

Qualification: Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India, with 50% aggregate marks.

General Category: Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and there is no Entrance Test for this course.

M.PHARM

Overview

M Pharm, Master of Pharmacy is a two years post graduate programwith CBS in Pharmacy. B Pharm program educate a graduate student in the sciences of various fields of Pharmacy such as industry, marketing, practice, community, drug discovery etc., just to name a few. However, a graduate lacks an in-depth knowledge and hands on expertise in psychomotor skills in the specialized areas of the profession of Pharmacy.


RR College of Pharmacy, with a view to making a student to face the challenges in the specialized areas of pharmacy profession, has been offering M Pharm program in two specializations for several years while the following links describe the scope of the individual masters programs.


MPharm is offered in the following streams

Eligibility

Duration: 2 years. (4th Semesters)

Citizenship: Indian nationals can apply under the General Category. Foreign nationals or Non Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under the Foreign/NRI Category.

Qualification: Pass in B Pharm from an university recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India, with minimum of 55 % aggregate marks or equivalent.

Foreign/NRI Category: Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Assessment

First Year M Pharm (I and II Semester)
  • Continuous and consistent evaluation of students through theory classes, practical classes, assignments, class tests, journalclub and viva-voce.
  • Evaluation of seminars presented by the students.
  • Periodic assessment of students by conducting three theory and two practical sessional examinations in each subject (internal examination).
  • A final theory university examination at the end of first academic year.
  • A university practical examination at the end of first academic year.
  • A minimum of 75% attendance and 50% of marks in theory and practical examinations are necessary to move to next level.
Second Year M Pharm (III and IV Semester)
  • The students should carry out a research project and submit a thesis of their research work.
  • The thesis will be evaluated by a panel of internal and external examiners.
  • A viva-voce examination will be conducted to evaluate the student’s research work.

PHARM D AND PHARM D (PB)

Overview

RRCOP has introduced Pharm D and Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate)programs in 2012. The multi-specialty clinical environment provides an exemplary training ground for practice based pharmacy education. PharmD curriculum focuses on core pharmacy courses in the first two years, followed by four years in the clinical setting. PharmD students are fully integrated into the multidisciplinary, multi-speciality health care team with Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre from the fourth year, concluding with a first rate comprehensive muti-speciality internship in the final year. Interns may also train themselves at other recognized centers in India or abroad for a maximum of three months. PharmD trains students to work in hospital settings, relevant industry environments and to pursue higher degrees or clinical research in the international setting.


Eligibility

Duration: 6 years. including 1 year internship

Citizenship: Indian nationals.

Qualification: Pass in 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics / Biology as optional subjects from a recognized Board / University, with minimum 45 % PCM /PCBD Pharm or any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India.

PHARM.D (POST BACCALAUREATE)

Overview

RRCOP has introduced Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) in 2020-21. This three year program provides opportunity for the B Pharm graduates to acquire practice based Pharm D (PB). First two years consist of coursework, which followed by one year of internship, which is similar to that of Pharm D. This program functions as a bridge between traditional B Pharm and regular Pharm D by advancing professional skills and career options in clinical practice and research.


Eligibility

Duration: 3 years. including internship

Citizenship: Indian nationals can apply under the General Category. Foreign nationals or Non Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under the Foreign/NRI Category.

Qualification: BPharm from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
